Take a Leap of Faith

Today is a date on the calendar that only comes once every four years.  It’s an extra day tacked onto the end of February within a leap year.  Some days can be classified as extra grace required days.  Let’s look at today as an extra grace given day.

God’s love for us is extravagent.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”

1 John 3:1

God’s grace for us is extravagent.

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.”

Ephesians 1:8

Lavish love and lavish grace.  These are gifts we have been given from the Father through Jesus.  Don’t waste this gift of an extra day of grace.  This year with an extra day.  Let’s live today and each day out of the identity of a lavished and loved child of God.  Not a spoiled, rotten child but a forgiven, grateful child.

Mirraim-Webster defines leap as:

“to spring free from the ground: to jump over (something): to move quickly”

Take a big leap of faith today.   This leap of faith is not random but intentional, purposeful and personal. Maybe it is moving quickly from sin into repentance and forgiveness.  Maybe it is jumping from passivity into a vibrant and active faith in Jesus.  Maybe it is springing free from fear and leaping into the great adventure of living by faith and not by sight.  Maybe it is leaving offense and unforgivness at the foot of the cross and moving on to abundant life.

Whatever it is – it will take setting your eyes on Jesus. It will stretch you, it will take faith, it will require movement and it will catapult you into greater freedom.

Leap into the arms of the Father through Jesus.  He is not just a stepping stone but the cornerstone – the rock of our salvation.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the strength of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior – from violent men you save me.”

Psalm 22:2-3

The Lord is full of love. Full of truth. Full of grace. Full of hope. Full of power. Full of joy. Full of forgiveness. Full of wisdom. Full of life. He is everything you will ever need.  Spring free. Jump over something. Move quickly. Take a leap of faith in Jesus!
